Any paints purchased from stores have a VOC (Volatile organic compounds) rating regulated by the state government. Please beware of any one claiming to use “all natural” painting products. If these products are not put through the battery of tests required by the painting industry it is uncertain how well they will weather. Having a paint or finish that lasts a longer time is more earth friendly than giving in to false marketing strategies.

The three most important building blocks of quality finishing are adhesion, protection and colorfastness.* Unlike many “faux” painters which require a texture to be applied in order to create the desired look, resulting in large amounts of products consumed, East Coast Custom Faux Finishing has the experience to use very little product.

*Colorfast-Having color that retains its original hue without fading or running.

Most of our finishes create depth through applying thin translucent layers of color. That is an immediate reduction of non-earth friendly products.

The majority of effects we create are from rubbing small amounts of specially formulated products into the surface to create a specific unique effect for each job.

Utilizing products purchased from an assortment of paint suppliers, our goal has always been to combine conventional ingredients in ingenious and unconventional ways to create a washable, durable and colorfast surface.
